AirShuttle Launch
Twice as much!? Did we add more pilots and engines? Well yes actually! Starting in early August, we are planning the launch of new airport based flights to San Juan from St. Croix and St. Thomas. Flights will leave twice daily from both Henry Rholsen and Cyril E. King Airports and will be nonstop, eliminating stopovers.
In addition to doubling the number of seats we offer today, we will work hard to maintain the seaplane tradition of convenience even with airport operations: Our location in St. Thomas will be only steps away from available parking and the commuter gate. In St. Croix we are planning an equally convenient set up and our location at Isla Grande Airport will occupy a quaint, convenient, and comfortable terminal reminiscent of the golden age of flying!
There are some additional benefits to our new airport service including:
- Isla Grande Airport while still close to Old San Juan is actually a
bit closer and convenient to the rest of San Juan’s attractions –
plus there is tons of free parking!
- We will be able to fly in cloudy rainy weather leading to
less cancellations
- Reduced cost of operation will help stabilize fares and counter
fuel price increases
- The new airport operation will also provide backup for
seaplane flights between St. Thomas and St. Croix in
case of poor weather and/or lack of daylight
With all this good news - there is a bit of sad news to report. The start of these flights will coincide with temporary cessation of seaplane flights to/from Old San Juan as our existing location is being torn down to build a new mega yacht marina. We plan to return seaplane service utilizing a new location at Isla Grande Airport as soon as we are able!
So Flying YOU at the Power of TWO – now it means both seaplane and land based airline – ALL to serve you better! And speaking of better, we also have tentative plans to double service again to/from San Juan in the late fall. I hope to see you on our new flights and as always – I thank YOU for your valuable patronage.
Sincerely,
