NEW Flights to SAN JUAN INTERNATIONAL

Seaborne is proud to announce enhanced service in the San Juan market with daily flights to/from St. Croix, St. Thomas, and Vieques to San Juan International (SJU).  Flights will begin January 12 and be time to provide excellent times for business, leisure, and connections to/from major carriers.   Combined with Isla Grande Airport, Seaborne will be the only airline serving two locations in San Juan!

Flight Information

Direct flights to San Juan International and San Juan Isla Grande are offered several times daily from St. Croix, St. Thomas and Vieques on the Seaborne airshuttle, a deHavilland Twin Otter DHC-6 plane that accommodates up to 19 passengers.

  • St. Croix to San Juan:  50 minutes, 143 miles
  • St. Thomas to San Juan:  40 minutes, 133.6 miles
  • Vieques to San Juan:  25 minutes, 70.4 miles

SJU Airport Locations: Seaborne is conveniently located at the first airport entry on the upper level of Concourse B.  Check-in is conveniently located on the side counters directly in front of the entry way, only steps away from TSA, and close to the Seaborne boarding Gate 31.  Luggage may be picked up at Carousel No. 7 on the lower level.

TSA Requirements for SJU Travel: Seaborne flights to/from San Juan International from St. Croix and St. Thomas and those from San Juan International to Vieques are screened by the Transportation Security Administration.  As such, please ensure you pack your carryon items in accordance with TSA 311 rules:  3-1-1 for carry-on articles = 3.4 ounce (100ml) bottle or less (by volume) ; 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin. One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. 3.4 ounce (100ml) container size is a security measure. Be prepared. Each time TSA searches a carry-on it slows down the line. Practicing 3-1-1 will ensure a faster and easier checkpoint experience. 3-1-1 is for short trips. If in doubt, put your liquids in checked luggage. Declare larger liquids. Medications, baby formula and food, and breast milk are allowed in reasonable quantities exceeding three ounces and are not required to be in the zip-top bag. US Customs Requirements: Guests traveling to SJU will pre-clear US Customs in St. Croix or St. Thomas.  While a passport is preferred, you may also travel with a valid government issued ID demonstrating US residency.  In order to allow enough time to clear US Customs – guests traveling to San Juan MUST check-in at least 45 minutes prior to departure.

Connecting Flights TO: If you are connecting TO a major carrier at SJU, we suggest you bring only carry-on luggage (please check with your airline for its rules) and to print out your boarding pass ahead of time.  This way you can breeze right from Seaborne to your next flight. If you do plan on bringing checked items, you will need to collect your luggage at the Seaborne carousel, #7, and proceed upstairs to check-in with your carrier and/or go through TSA if you have already printed out your boarding pass.  PLEASE READ: Seaborne Airlines makes best efforts to arrive on-time every time at your destination.  As safety is our number one concern – flights may arrive later than planned due to weather or unplanned maintenance.  As such, we highly recommend our connecting guests maintain at least 2.5 hours between the scheduled arrival of your Seaborne flight and your connection.  If you have luggage that must be checked please maintain at least 3 hours between connections.  Seaborne is not responsible for any expenses, damages, and/or liabilities resulting from missed connections.

Connecting Flights FROM: If you are connecting FROM a major carrier at SJU, we suggest you bring only carry-on luggage (please check with your airline for its rules) so you may proceed right to Seaborne gate within the terminal for check-in without going through TSA again.  If you have to check luggage with your major carrier you will need to collect your luggage at your airline’s carousel, and proceed upstairs to check-in at Seaborne’s counter before proceeding through TSA to the gate. Check-in Times for flights from STT, STX, and VQS

  • Recommended check-in time is 90 minutes prior.
  • Flight cutoff is 45 minutes
  • VQS-SJU flights recommended check-in time is 45 minutes with cutoff at 20 minutes
  • These check-in times are very important as they need to allow enough time to clear customs, TSA, and have their bags delivered from TSA to the aircraft.

  • VQS to SJU flights do not clear CBP or TSA

Isla Grande Airport, San Juan (SIG)

Seaborne Airlines also offers charters from Isla Grande Airport (SIG), also know as San Juan City Airport.

Directions from San Juan:
Before entering Old San Juan, cross the Dos Hermanos bridge and keep to the left lane. After the first traffic light make a U-Turn under the overpass. Immediately get into your right lane. Continue straight past Club Nautico, and make a right turn after the Sizzler Restaurant. This will bring you to the entrance of Isla Grande. Continue straight for approximately 1/4 mile until you see the Seaborne airshuttle sign. Follow the signs to our parking lot just after the Main Administrative Building (which includes the local Tax Office), and ask for Car Division or Customer Service.

 

SanJuan IslaGrande Airport

The airport is located about 3 miles from Old San Juan.  There is parking available at the airport, and taxis are also available.
